President Brima Champions Football Development: Morabi Triumphs in WARDFA Tournament

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Thomas Daddy Brima, attended the Western Area Rural District Football Association (WARDFA) “One Hundred Million” Tournament on Monday, April 30th, 2024, at the Bassa Town field.

The tournament’s final match was between Bassa Town Community and Morabi Community.

President Brima was accompanied by SLFA’s Acting General Secretary, Mohamed Benson Bawoh, National Youth Football Coordinator Alimamy Kurash Conteh, and National U17 Team Manager Musa “Salim” Pokawa.

Morabi Community emerged victorious in the finals, defeating Bassa Town Community with a score of 1-0.

This tournament is part of President Brima’s initiative to support grassroots football development across Sierra Leone, showcasing his commitment to promoting the sport at all levels throughout the country.

The finals, which played under the Grand Chief Patronage of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC) Chairman, Kasho J. Holland Cole, attracted hundreds of fans from different parts of the District, highlighting the passion for football within the community.

During a personal conversation with the District Football Association Chairman, Kebbie Sesay, President Thomas Daddy Brima mentioned that the Bassa Town Field is one of the football fields close to his heart in terms of development.

President Brima, with support from FIFA, has recently completed the construction of four new artificial turf pitches, including the SLFA Academy Field, Approved School Field, Port Loko Town Field, and Bo Coronation Field. The project also included the renovation of Kono and Kenema Town Fields.
