The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Acting General Secretary, Mohamed Benson Bawoh, and Head of Finance, Ibrahim Bah, participated in the CAF Member Associations Governance and Finance Workshop in Ethiopia.
This workshop, aligned with CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s commitment to prioritize governance and uphold the highest ethical standards within Africa’s Member Associations, was held from June 7th to 9th in Addis Ababa. The event aimed to enhance the governance and financial strength of member associations, ensuring African football becomes globally competitive and self-sustaining.
Reflecting on the workshop, Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh expressed gratitude to CAF for organizing the event. “It was an opportunity to delve into football governance from CAF’s perspective as a continental body. The topics covered, including financial governance, procedural manuals, budget processes, procurement procedures, revenue generation, financial and risk monitoring, and the roles of finance and audit committees, were truly impactful on our daily activities at SLFA,” Bawoh stated.
He further emphasized that SLFA is committed to implementing the lessons and experiences gained through the workshop to contribute to the positive trajectory of Sierra Leonean football under the leadership of President Thomas Daddy Brima and his Executive. The insights from the workshop will support SLFA’s efforts in stabilizing and improving its governance and financial practices.
