Leone Stars Safely Return Following a Successful Camping in Casablanca

Home based players and officials of the Sierra Leone Senior National Team- Leone Stars- have today Friday October 20th 2023 safely returned to Freetown following a successful week of camping and training in Casablanca, Morocco.

All foreign players had also departed Casablanca for their respective destinations across Europe and Asia.

During the said camping and in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the team engaged in two friendly encounters against their Beninoise and Somalis counterparts. The first match (Benin) ended in a dramatic 1:1 draw whiles the second (Somalia) came out as an undoubted 2:0 victory for Sierra Leone.

Speaking to SLFA Media on arrival at the Freetown International Airport, Leone Stars Head Coach Amidu Karim said that, “The camp in Morocco may have come to a successful end but preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Qualifiers continue emphatically”. *“My two assistants and I shall continue to keep a close track of both home and foreign based players with specific focus on Ethiopia and Egypt games in a few weeks”, he added.
