SIERRA QUEENS MAKE HISTORY - ROAR INTO WAFU SEMIFINALS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

Nouakchott, Mauritania – A New Era Begins!

The Sierra Leone Women’s National Team, the indomitable Sierra Queens, have etched their names into the history books by securing a sensational spot in the semifinals of the WAFU Zone A Women’s Cup Mauritania 2025— a feat never before achieved in Sierra Leone’s football history!

Against all odds and after a rocky start, the Queens showed the heart of true champions. Following a tough 3-0 loss to The Gambia in their opener, the team came back roaring — defeating Guinea in a thrilling 3-1 showdown, and then holding tournament giants Senegal to a gritty 1-1 draw. With four hard-earned points, Sierra Leone clinched second place in Group B and stormed into the semifinals for the very first time.

But this story isn’t just about results — it’s about heroes.

Goalkeeper Hannah Juana has become the breakout star of the tournament, earning back-to-back Woman of the Match titles for her commanding performances between the posts. Her heroics have sparked admiration across the region and inspired fans back home.

The Head of Delegation Haja Ramatulai Kamara— a respected SLFA Executive Committee Member and Chairperson of Female Football — lauded the team’s passion and resilience, stating:
“This is more than a victory. It’s a statement that Sierra Leone’s women’s football has arrived — and we’re not backing down. The SLFA remains fully committed to supporting these incredible athletes.”

All eyes are now on the Cheikha Boidya Stadium in Mauritania, where the Queens will face Mali in a high-stakes semifinal clash on Thursday, 29th May 2025 at 4:00 PM.

From Freetown to Koidu, from Bo to Makeni, the nation is united in pride. This is not just a match — it’s a movement.

Let’s rally behind our history-making heroines as they wave the green, white, and blue with pride!
