Top players of the Leone Stars’ squad- Mohamed “Medo” Kamara, David Simbo, Rodney Strasser and John Kamara- have expressed high optimism after the team’s match situational training today as Sierra Leone prepares for the much anticipated encounter tomorrow against the Crocodiles of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The quartet believe that “something good will come out of tomorrow’s match”. It is our responsibility to ensure that” Mohammed Kamara made a passionate commitment.
”The combination between the young and older players is exceptionally perfecting our team work everyday. This fact helped us greatly in Nigeria and we are very optimistic that it will help us again tomorrow”. Sierra Leone’s experienced defender David Simbo mentioned to this medium.
Expressing the determination of the team, Leone Stars’ Azerbaijan based box-to-box midfielder said, “This is our chance to qualify for the African Cup of Nations after so many years and that chance will be clearer if we grab all three points in tomorrow’s match.” ”We are highly determined to let that happen”. He added.
The Lesotho-Sierra Leone match will play strictly behind closed doors due to the prevailing COVID-19 which has had a high impact in mountainous Southern African encircled country.
Sierra Leone is currently 3rd in group L with 3 points trailing Benin who are second with 7 points and Nigeria leads the group with 8 points. Lesotho is at the bottom of the table with 3 points.
The Nigerian led Group L is currently mathematically open with a chance for any of the four Nations to qualify. At the end of the round robin however, only the two best teams will make it through to the 33rd edition of the international men’s football championship of Africa to be hosted in Cameroon, January next year.
