A 62nd minute goal by Nyakeh O. Alpha gave FC Johansen the much needed victory over their arch rival, RSLAF FC to clinch its first FA Cup trophy since gaining promotion to the premier league.
The FA cup was for the second time being sponsored by Sierra Leone's only cement manufacturing company, Leocem.
Both sides played to a one-all draw last weekend but poor visibility prevented an extra time showdown to climax the 2016 Leocem FA cup.
However, in the first half of play, both teams sat back refusing to move the ball forward save for unsuccessful attacks and counter attacks and depended mainly on long balls to crack the other side which did not happen.
FC Johansen's skipper, Sorie Barrie came close to getting the opener in the 32nd minute but his shot went an inch over the crossbar.
In the second half, RSLAF came in strongly and created several scoring opportunities but none was a success and in the 62nd minute, FC Johansen built an attack from the defence; Abu Kanu sent a pass for Barrie in the middle and he immediately played forward to Nyakeh who dribbled past two defenders before hammering home the only goal of the match.
"I'm excited to have scored in this final and help my team win this trophy. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead and wish to make our owners proud," the goalscorer said.
The Champions received a cash prize of 40 Million Leones while the runner up went home with 30 Million Leones.
