Acting President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Mr Brima Mazola Kamara has been invited by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to its 12th Extraordinary General Assembly due for Sunday, 30 September 2018 at the Egyptian resort city of Sharm El Sheikh, which is about 500 kilometres from the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
The former Sierra Leone international, who was the first to play professional football outside Sierra Leone, left Freetown on Thursday, September 27 and is expected to be in the ‘City of Peace’ this evening (Friday, September 28).
"We are going to this congress to discuss relevant issues related to the development of the game in the continent. We will also be electing the African representative to the FIFA Council for the Anglophone Linguistic Group, to replace Kwesi Nyantakyi, who resigned from his position last June.
"However, I will use this opportunity to bring back our local leagues so that football loving fans will once again have something to smile about in reference to the country's football," the Acting President promised.
While at the congress, the Acting President will explore the opportunity to speak with both FIFA President, Gianni Infantino and FIFA General Secretary Fatma Samoura on the Sierra Leone situation. He will also reach out to potential sponsors for the development of the game back home.
