The West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone A confirmed, after its extraordinary general assembly yesterday the 12th October 2019 in Dakar, the holding of the first women's football tournament in December this year in Bo and Makeni cities in Sierra Leone.
This senior female tournament, the first of this category, will be fully participated by the nine countries in Zone A. (Cape Verde, Mauritania, Mali, Senegal, Liberia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Gambia and the host nation Sierra Leone).
After over two decades, Sierra Leone will again host a FIFA, CAF and WAFU sanctioned tournament in December and it will be the first female Zonal Cup of Nations. This maiden edition of the competition will last from Friday 13th- Sunday 22nd of December 2019.
Ms. Isha Johansen, the president of the Sierra Leonean Football Federation, will be traveling shortly with a strong delegation to Conakry to discuss with the new President Antonio Souaré the practicalities of this great event of women's football in our sub-region.
